Kendall turns 6!

Kendall celebrated her 6th birthday this weekend with a small party of friends and family. She was surprised by her cousins Reid, Griffin, and Jadyn and her Aunt and Uncle Leah and Jeff. Thanks to all who made it. It was a fun night. Its hard to believe that our baby is 6 already!
Dane, wild as ever...

Spiderman (aka: Benny)

Cousins and "besties" Kendall and Reid
The newest addition to the clan....Avery being held by Grandma Green Bay
Jadyn
The rest of the Lutz family (minus big cousins Rylee and Adam)
Kendall is known for changing her outfit about three to four times daily. You never quite know what she is going to come downstairs wearing. This time, she and her friends came as princesses and found optimus prime while they were getting dressed up! Notice, in her above picture while blowing out her candles and opening presents she is in her pajamas. I didn't want to take away from her special day, so I went with the flow. You all know how hard that is for me!!
Mom's attempt at being crafty on four hours of sleep after working the three nights prior. Idea stolen from Pinterest, of course!

The Great Wolf

Last weekend, we made another trip to The Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin Dells. We had a much needed fun family get-away to celebrate David being done with his busy season (at least partially). The kids loved it and ask to go back every day. Kendall has decided that she wants to live there.

Dane kept swallowing water and coughing, so we told him to close his mouth. This is what he looked like all of the time in the water.

Yikes! Kendall looks like she is going to get taken out....

But, she made it!

Scarecrows

Kendall has a harvest festival party at school next week and she is supposed to dress up like a scarecrow. I asked around if anyone had anything I could borrow and Crystal came up huge for us! Dane couldn't resist dressing up and I thought he looked pretty cute too =)

Happy Halloween from the Havilands!

The kids wanted to be Daphne and Fred from Scooby Doo this year. I found Daphne at Target, but had to order Fred online. Two days ago, I got a message from the website that said they weren't sending it. Thank you to Paula who saved the day and let us borrow her Scooby costume as well as the rest of the gang =)

Kendall had a Halloween parade and party at school this morning. She was getting ready for it and Dane insisted on dressing up as well.

We were just getting ready to leave for school and I took this picture. About 30 seconds later, Kendall threw up her breakfast. Unfotunately, this meant that she missed her school parade and party. We are still hoping to make it out trick-or-treating tonight.

We carved one pumpkin last week and it has rotted already. I wasn't really into carving another one and one of our neighbors gave us this idea. Highly recommend! No mess and lots of fun for the kids.

Crazy hair day

Kendall was quite excited for crazy hair day today at school. Normally, even taking a brush to her hair in the morning is just about the worst experience of my day. But, today, she was all smiles. I can't say I am looking forward to tonight when we have to take them all out!
(in case you are surprised to see a toothless Kendall, she didn't lose it the natural way, she knocked it out a couple of weeks ago while tripping face-first into a wall)

Lunch Date

I promised Kendall I would meet her for hot lunch at school. She was extremely excited and would not stop talking about it. Well yesterday was the day and I was fortunate enough to enjoy cheese bread sticks and marinara sauce.

If you have a chance to have lunch with your kids at school, do it. I have never seen her so proud to show me off. Selfishly, it felt great!!!

Kendall's First Day of School

Well, she's close to three weeks in and she seems to love school.

Dad: "What's your favorite part of school?"
Kendall: "Lunch and recess."

Seems to be a pretty typical answer for kids that age. Of course if you ask me my favorite part of the workday, I'm not sure the answer is any different.

She is very proud of her new locker.

She loves her table. Her tablemates are Levi, John, Emily, and Mara.

Dane and Kendall, for what will be the annual first day of school photo.
